Description

Folios 106-107: James Nash, Regulating Officer, Leith. He says Thomas Marsh was not impressed by him, but he has asked Captain Clements to give him what information he can.

Folios 108-109: enclosed with folios 106-107. Letter dated 12 April 1804 by John Clements, Captain, Sea Fencibles, Firth of Forth. He reports that Thomas Marsh was found aboard a Dutch vessel which was captured. He claimed to be an American citizen, born in Boston, but on being questioned, admitted that he had been born at Sandgate, Kent. He made this confession in the presence of Vice Admiral Bligh.
