Description

Folios 202-203: John Newhouse, HMS Dictator, Harwich. As directed by Rear Admiral Rowley, encloses the indenture of William Impaey, whose case was expalined in the letter of 9 August, when it was stated that he was not pressed, but entered as a ovlunteer and received the Bounty. It appears that he was an apprentice at the time.

Folios 204-205: enclosure with folios 202-203. Petition dated 25 August 1803 from Ann Crane to The Admiralty. She is the widow of William Crane, Citizen and Blacksmith of London, whose Apprentice William Impey eloped about 3months ago and entered as a Landsman, now on board HMS Dictator. He has never been to sea. Requests his discharge.

Folio 206: enclosure with folios 202-203. Certificate dated 19 August 1803, signed by R Farington, Rector of the Parish of Saint George, Middlesex, confirming that William Impey was baptized on 31 October 1784 at the age of 29 days old.

Folio 207: enclosure with folios 202-203. Letter dated 23 August 1803 signed by W King, certifying an entry dated 7 February 1799 in the Minutes Book of the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths, London, that William Impey, of Sidney's Alley, Leicester Fields, Middlesex, pastry cook, was bound as an Apprentice to William Crane for 7 years. The entry is signed by N Conson.
