Description

Folios 188-189: Francis Newcombe,Trerethick, near Launceston. His agent, Mr Sykes, informs him that he has applied in Captain Newcombe's name for his expenses in attending to give evidence at the trial of Nathaniel Kay, James Brady and Jeremy Hinton, but has been refused because of a mistake in the documents. He has recommended another letter and he now sends a copy. Copy letter dated 11 September 1802. Acknowledges the letter of 10 August requiring his attendance to give evidence at the trial of 3 men (named above), late of HMS Albanaises. Also to comply with orders sent to Rear Admiral Dacres requiring his attendance at Exeter to identift Henry Kennedy, then detained in the Couny Gaol, late of HMS Albanaises, and one of the prinical mutineers of that vessel. He has sustained considerabe expenses and requests reimbursement. Postscript: the response was that he should state his expenses, which he did by return post.
