Folios 161-162: Thomas New, Regulating Offcier, Swansea. Reports he has received a deputation from the Merchants and Ship Owners involved in the coal and copper trade between Swansea and Cornwall. The Nymph hired cutter was recently sent to Swansea to convey the trade vessels: they thought her inadequate, being very small. They suffered much in the last war, especially in May 1797, when several of their vessels were taken off Lands End, and are asking whether the Nymph is a permanent answer to their request or whether a larger vessel could be expected. He notes that the Nymph was not expecting such a large convoy and had an insufficient number of convoy instructions.
