Description

Folios 115-116: Martin Nevile, HMS Port Mahon, Poole. Sends copies of an agreement between himself and Captain O'Neill [Regulating Officer] and the Mayor and Merchants of Poole to raise 20 men and deliver them to the Rendezvous or on board HMS Port Mahon, in return for allowing Seamen and Fishermen on board ships belonging to, or being fitted out, at Poole who come within the Protections. He has found great difficulty procuring men of any description but will persevere.

Folio 117: enclosure with folios 115-116. Copy statement dated 1 April 1803, signed by William Spurrier, Mayor, and George Garland and John Jeffries, MP, witness John Blaney. They agree to offer additional bounties to procure 20 men for His Majesty's Service and deliver them to the Rendezvous (Captain Terence O'Neill) or HMS Port Mahon (Captain Nevile).

Folio 118: enclosure with folios 115-116. Copy statement dated 1 April 1803, signed by Terence O'Neill and M Nevile, witness John Blaney They agree that the Poole merchants may send Seamen and Fishermen on board their ships, belonging to, or being fitted, at Poole in exchange for an agreement, through the Mayor William Spurrier, of offering an additional bounty: 3 guineas for Able Bodied Seamen, 2 guineas for Ordinary, and 1 guinea for Landsmen, until they reach their quota of 20 men.
