Description

Folios 46-47: Harry Neale, HMS Royal Charlotte, Hope Reach. Reports on the arrangements he has made with the Proper Officers of the Corporation of Trinty House, for the security of shipping in the River Thames. Sends a copy of the orders he has issued to the respective Officers in the Regulating Service and the Voluntary Corps. Also sends a statement of the forces at London, Deptford, Woolwich and the Hope Reach, including the number of Sea Fencibles ready to report to the Rendezvous at short notice. Describes arrangements for provision of ammunition to the various armed vessels and boats on the river, as well as the Trinity Ships. He has divided the whole force under his command into 2 divisions, one led by himself and the other by Captain Grey of HMS Augusta, with the Officers of the Regulating Service divided between them.

Folios 49-50: enclosure with folios 46-47. Statement dated 13 November 1803 by H Neale of the forces allotted for the defence of the River Thames.

Folios 51-52: enclosure with folios 46-47. Undated list signed by H Neale of signals prepared for the Commanders of H M Ships and Trinity House Ships on the River Thames.

Folio 53: enclosure with folios 46-47. Order dated 8 November 1803 issued by H Neale to Captain Motley, Captain Richbell, and Lieutenant Nugent of actions to take on first learning of the approach of the enemy invasion.

Folio 54: enclosure with folios 46-47. Undated order issued by H Neale to the Commanders of The Trinity House Ships on actions to be taken if enemy vessels arrive in the River Thames.

Folio 55: enclosure with folios 46-47. Undated order issued by H Neale to the Commanders of The Trinity House Ships on actions to be taken if enemy vessels arrive in the River Thames and attempt to use fire ships.

Folio 56: enclosure with folios 46-47. Undated instructions issued by H Neale on action to be taken by the River Fencibles at London and Gravesend when fighting the enemy.

Folio 57: enclosure with folios 46-47. Order dated 8 November 1803 issued by H Neale, HMS Royal Charlotte, Deptford, to Captain Snow, River Fencibles, London, of actions to be taken on hearing of the approach of the enemy.

Folio 58: enclosure with folios 46-47. Order dated 8 November 1803 issued by H Neale, HMS Royal Charlotte, Deptford, to Captain Lucas, River Fencibles, London, of actions to be taken on hearing of the approach of the enemy.

Folios 59-60: enclosure with folios 46-47. Undated Regulations issued by H Neale for the effective security and defence of shipping in the River Thames in case of attack by the enemy after landing, or on the passage of the enemy with the intent of landing.
