Folios 213-214: [Harry Burrard] Neale, HMS Royal Charlotte, Weymouth. Enclosing a copy of a letter to Admiral Milbank [Mark Milbanke] given to him by Wilson Rathborne of HMS Racoon.
Folio 215: enclosure with folios 213-214. Copy letter dated 27 July 1801 from Wilson Rathborne HMS Racoon At Sea to Admiral Milbank [Mark Milbanke]. Advising that 1 of his Officers had boarded an American Brig Pensilvania belonging to Philadelphia, Francis [N-Burn? Master], that had recently sailed from Cherbourg. The Master reported that approximately 11,000 troops had marched to that Port in order to Invade England and that they come every day and immediately embark on small boats at night presumably towards Calais amounting to 6,000. Also when he had sailed, there were 40 small Gun Boats each carrying 1 or 2 long guns and full of troops approximately 6,000 ready for an expedition. In addition he reported that intelligence had arrived there that [Gunthenm's] Squadron had arrived at Egypt and disembarked the troops as well as news that both HMS Hannibal, arrived at Cadiz, and HMS Audacious had been captured.
