Folios 181-182: James Norman. Petition by Captain James Norman of Majesty's Royal Navy to the Admiralty requesting to be permitted to be re-employed by Lord Spencer [George John Spencer - First Lord of the Admiralty]. Defending his actions, his past good service and that some previously dismissed Captains have been recently restored. Contains details of his journey and circumstances while travelling from Jamaica onboard HMS Medusa, whilst accompanying his convoy, as well as his subsequent Court Martia, the loss of 12 Ships to the Enemy and resultantly being reprimanded and put on half pay.
