Folios 96-97: James Newman Newman, HMS Loire, Lisbon. Reporting the contents of a private letter between Merchants ie from Mr Robert Cook of Madeira to Welch Esquire of this place stating that a letter had just arrived from his Majesty's Consol at Philedelphia [Philadelphia] stating that 2 Spanish Gun Ships, a Frigate or Packet with 11 Million Dollars on board arrived at Havannah [Havana] from LaVera Cruz and were to sail for Europe. Also reporting that 3 Frigates and a Brig sailed from Cadiz as well as there being 4 Battle Ships in the Outer Roads ready for Sea and were to follows the Frigates. Madrid is also mentioned.
