Folios 251-252: James Newman, HMS Mermaid, Portsmouth. He encloses a list of expenses that arose in connection with the detention of the schooner Carolina of Altona. He has written in the past about this event and was asked by the Admiralty to try and renegotiate the claims being made. This he has done and he resubmits the claim which he hopes the Admiralty will now meetFolios 253-254: enclosure with folios 251-252. A detailed claim of costs totalling £3313.18s 4d submitted to the Admiralty Prize Court in respect of the Caroline, master Henry Smith Skinner taken by HMS Mermaid and brought to Sheerness.Bill dated 21 March 1798 in the sum of £561.6s.9d submitted by Messrs Crikitt and Townley in respect of The Caroline
