Folios 145-146: John Maxwell, HMS Barossa, Portsmouth Harbour. Request for the College of Surgeons to examine his right hand. Explains that he lost the first joint of his middle finger on his right hand whilst in command of HMS Redbreast in 1806. This occurred whilst firing a gun. States he was in Plymouth Hospital for 4 months under the care of Doctor Hammond. Requests they consider granting him a pension or renumeration for the injury.
