Folios 58-59: Charels Malcolm, 22 Arundel Street. States that he placed a deserted annotation against the name of John Hamilton, Captain of the Main Top, on HMS Rhin, when he sailed form Plymouth without him. However requests an order for this to be removed as he boarded HMS St George the day after HMS Rhin sailed and arrived at Sheerness immediately after the ship was paid off travelling on HMS Ulysses and HMS Albion.
Folios 60-61: Letter dated 5 September 1815, from Charles Malcolm, 22 Arundel Street, Strand [London] to the Admiralty. States that when his ship, HMS Rhin, sailed suddenly from Portsmouth to be paid off at Sheerness, John Hamilton, Captain of the Main Top, who was on leave was marked as 'deserted' on the Ships books. He apparently appeared at the Admirals Office at Plymouth the day after they sailed and went on board the Guardship there for a passage to Sheerness. Requests the 'deserted' annotation be removed for this reason.
