Folios 231-232: MacDowell [James M'Dowal], HMS Princess, [Regulating Officer], Greenock. Reply to letter dated 19 June 1815, ordering the statement of Samule Melling - He was impressed by Lieutenant [George Francis] Lyon on 14 June 1815 as an Ordinary Seaman ages 28 born in Liverpool, he produced a discharge for long service in the name of Samuel Milling, but in the first instant called himself Thomas Milling.
Folios 233-234: enclosure with folios 231-232. Letter dated 17 June 1815 by Samuel Melling, HMS Princess, Liverpool, to the Admiralty. Request to be discharged. Mentions service in HMS Laurel and HMS Defiance.
