Description

Folios 249-250: Rowland Money, HMS Plantagenet, Spithead. Is sending despatches [no longer present] from Sir Alexander Cochrane via Captain William Henry Percy as his wounds prevent him from delivering them.

Folios 251-252: enclosure with folios 249-250. Order from Sir Alexander [Inglis] Cochrane, HMS Tonnant, to Rowland Money, HMS Trave, requiring him to board HMS Plantagenet for a passage to England to deliver the enclosed despatches [no longer present] to the Admiralty. Captain Lloyd has been instructed to land him at Portsmouth if possible, but otherwise the first port he can make. If the state of his wound is such that he cannot proceed immediately to London, he is to deliver the Despatches to Captain William Henry Percy, formerly of HMS Hermes, for him to deliver without delay.

Folio 253: enclosure with folios 249-250. Report from Henry Ryan, Surgeon, HMS Plantagenet, Spithead, dated 7 March 1815 stating that Rowland Money of HMS Trave who has been given despatches from Vice Admiral Alexander Cochrane is incapable to proceeding with them as he has a severe compound fracture of both bones in his right leg, caused by a musket ball at an attack near New Orleans on 8 January 1815.
