Description

Folios 491-494: K. Mackenzie, 59 Hanover Street, Edinburgh. Enclosing papers from his Agent. Requesting reimbursement for the conveyance of General Ponsonby and staff to Bordeaux. He gave passage to Colonels Murray, Stewart and [Boahn], who were going out to join the Duke of Wellington.

Folios 495-496: enclosure with folios 491-494. Letter from M Reynolds recommending the payment of eighty pounds for Captain Mackenzie for conveying General Ponsonby and General Smith to Bordeaux.

Folio 497: enclosure with folios 491-494. Letter dated 27 July 1814, from Gordon [Berney] in the Admiralty Office confirming that Captain Mackenzie of HMS Venus should be paid eighty pounds for the entertainment of General Ponsonby and that Captain Bremer and Captain Mackenzie should apply to Lord Keith to arrange what proportion should be paid to Captain Bremer.

Folio 498: enclosure with folios 491-494: Letter dated 10 August from James Meek at 48 Harley Street, London, informing that Lord Keith has directed that twenty pounds should be paid to Captain Bremer by the Agents of Captain Mackenzie out of the eighty pounds received from the Treasury.

Folio 499: enclosure with folios 491-494: Letter dated 31 July 1814 from J Gordon Bremer in Plymouth enclosing a letter from his Agents about remunerations to be paid for the entertainment of Captain Walker and General Ponsonby , who was received on board HMS Royalist for a passage to [Paysager].
