Folios 444-445: Francis Mason, 16 St. Albans Street, Pall Mall. Enclosing a letter from Admiral Thornborough [Thornbrough] supporting Mason's view that he was not responsible for an accident. He requests that Admiral Sawyer of HMS President in Ireland be contacted to confirm that Thornbrough was not capable of a negligent act.
Folios 446-447: enclosure with folios 444-445. Letter dated 11 November 1814 by Francis Mason explaining the cause of an accident between HMS President,and another ship which was approaching Torbay. The accident appeared to have a different cause, to those watching on shore.
