Folios 182-183: Frederick Lewis Maitland, HMS Goliath, Longreach, River Medway. Enclosing an affadavit [not included] by his first Lieutenant regarding the parting company from the convoy of the Benson. According to the affadavit of William Kirby, Master of the Cormorant store ship, he was ordered to keep close to the Benson, which he was unable to do because of the sailing power of the Benson.
