Folios 1-2: Henry Montresor, HMS Helena, Carrickfergus. Encloses letter from Jacob Richards, Gunner, HMS Helena requesting he is promoted to a higher rate ship. Says he's served for two and a half years, sober and qualified.
Folios 3-4 enclosed in folios 1-2. Letter dated 23 December 1813 by Jacob Richards, Gunner, HMS Helena, Carrickfergus. Wrote 12 December and told request must come through his captain. Nearly 17 years Navy service.
