Description

Folios 282-283: Donald M'Leod [MacLeod], Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Reply to letter dated 1 June 1813 and he states:- (1) John McCurdy was imprest by Lieutenant James Walker on 20 May 1813 as seafaring Landsman aged 24 born in Colrain. This man appears to be perfectly impressable, on re-examination he has reason to believe that the circumstances mentioned in S G Hill's application are correct. (2) Reply to letter William Kirton respecting William Cammeron (as stated in his letter to you dated 20 May 1813) he was imprest in consequence of a former letter which he enclosed, vis likewise an Admiralty Protection; and in reply received a letter from you dated 22 May 1813 saying that the letter in question was transmitted for his information, in orders to his using his discretion to impress the man or not. He therefor that he imprest him as an Ordinary Seaman aged 18 born in Newcastle. He said he served three years out of Newcastle and had been four years at sea.

Folios 284-285: enclosure with folios 282-283. Letter dated 31 May 1813 by William Kirton, Sandgate, New Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, to the Admiralty. Requests the discharge of William Cammeron.

Folios 286-287: enclosure with folios 282-283. Letter dated 28 May 1813 by G J Hill, Blakes Hotel, Jermy Street, to the Admiralty. Requests the discharge of John McCurdy.
