Description

Folios 258-259: Donald M'Leod [MacLeod], Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Reply to letter dated 31 May 1813, he states:- (1) George Kinrayd was imprest by Lieutenant Salmon on 20 May 1813 as an Able Seaman aged 40 born in Isle of Man. He said he had been used at Sea 15 years. This man appears to be much emancipated and in his opinion so unfit for service that he had intention to discharge him. (2) Leonard Hodges was imprest by Lieutenant George Timins on 13 May 1813 as an Ordinary Seaman (Shipwright) aged 31 born in Hull. He said he served his time in Hull and came here as a Carpenter of HMS Kingsmill. He since says he is an American and has an American Certificate to the effect. It appears he is married here and has been so near three years since which time he had sailed in HMS Kingsmill as her Carpenter. (3) In reply to letter dated 1 June 1813 he states Daniel McKelvie was imprest by Lieutenant Salmon on 24 Maye 1813 aged 30 born in Isle of Arran. He said he was Mate of the Elizabeth & Maragret. He was taken on shore at half past nine o'clock at night.

Folio 260: enclosure with folios 258-259. Letter dated 26 May 1813 by Richard Armitstead, Whitehaven to the Admiralty. Requests from the wife of George Kinrayd tfor him to be discharged.

Folios 261-262: enclosure with folios 258-259: Letter dated 29 May 1813 by Mary Hodges, No 50 Blundell Street, Liverpool to the Admiralty. Requests her husband Leonard Hodges be discharged.

Folios 263-264: enclosure with folios 258-259. Letter dated 28 May 1813 by James Donaldson, Air, to the Admiralty. States a poor woman with her helpless child whose husband [Daniel McKelvie] was Mate of the Elliot and Margaret came with the enclosed petition for his discharge.

Folios 265-266: enclosure with folios 258-259. Letter dated 28 May 1813 by James Morris, Air, to the Admiralty. Petition of James Morris, Ship Owner and Merchant. for the discharge of Daniel McKelvie.
