Description

Folios 242-243: John Fordyce Maples, HMS Pelican, Falmouth. Reports his arrival today in HMS Pelican with the Jamaica and Bahama mails and Vice Admiral Stirling's Dispatches after a passage of 37 days, having left Port Royal on 26 April 1813. He states he called at Bermuda agreeable to the Orders of Vice Admiral Stirling (copy enclosed). He sends a copy of his Log since leaving Freemantle [not present], the Weekly Accounts [not present], Defects of the Sloop & a List of the Invalides with a Quarterly return of Officers [not present].

Folio 244: enclosure with folios 242-243. John Fordyce Maples. A List of Invalides received on board HMS Pelican at Jamaica for a passage to England. [List with 6 names with date received and quality.

Folio 245: enclosure with folios 242-243. Carpenters Defects of HMS Pelican. Signed John Fordyce Maples & R Hobbs - Carpenter. dated 1 June 1813.

Folio 246: enclosure with folios 242-243. Charles Stirling, HMS Shark, Port Royal. To John Fordyce Maples, HMS Pelican. Dated 24 April 1813. Orders to receive such Mails as the Acting deputy Post Master General, may have to forward, and proceed to Bermuda for dispatches as per the orders of the Commander in Chief.
