Folios 190-191: Donald M'Leod [MacLeod], Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Reply to letter dated 17 May 1813 respecting Charles English on board HMS Fairy, said to have been impressed in Liverpool in August 1812, and directing him to report upon what grounds he was detained. He states that he entered with Lieutenant Walker on 26 August 1812 as a Landsman Volunteer aged 20 born in Preston. He came with another man named James Porteous and they both volunteered for HMS Boyne.
