Folios 268-269: John Fordyke Maples, HMS Pelican, Hamoaze. Last January when he commanded HMS Auetna he was ordered to Gibraltar to take ne mortars on board. He signed bills of lading from Mr Commissary O'Meara at Cadiz, consigned to the Chief Commissary Mr Sweetland at Gibraltar for 12,000 hard dollars.The Treasury have refused to pay freight as the distance was so small. Asks for a warrant to be granted.
