Folios 225-226: Donald M'Leod [MacLeod], Regulating Officer, Liverpool. John Simons does not appear on his books, but a boyt named John Seymopur was sent by Lieutenant Eborall from Manchester on 29 August [1821] as Volunteer aged 16 born in Thornhill.
Folios 227-228: enclosure with folios 225-226. Letter dated 23 October 1812 from Thomas Simon [made his mark] to the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, London. Applies for the discharge of his son John Simon on payment of any expense required and encloses his indentures [not present]. Today he applied to the Right Honourable George Canning, one of their representatives in Parliament.
