When he arrived at the Downs he left the ship in charge of an infirm old man who was being sent home as unfit for service, while he proceeded to London with the dispatches. Bill and receipts had been given and received byteh Purser. He had not claimed these before as he had not been charged with these costs at the time. An ostrich was transported to England from the Governor at Goree to a nobleman in England without his knowledge. Beef, pork and bread were used on HMS Arab on her return passage and not or anyprovate gain. Arems were left with the Governor of Goree to prevent them being used by the enemy.
