Folios 344-345: George Charles Mackenzie, HMS Christian VII, off Flushing. Has heard from Mr Edward Loveday that a young mid of his is now aboard the Hotspur and he would like to get him transferred. He says Captain Percy is in London so there is some difficulty getting the young man's discharge. Before he left the ship Captain Percy had given him his certificate and permission to apply to Sir R. Curtis for the discharge, but the admiral will not grant it unless it comes direct from the captain as he thinks it will set a bad precedent. Mackenzie asks therefore if their Lordships will give permission for the discharge, as Admiral Young has already approved the young man's joining the Christian VII - otherwise he is worried the Hotspur might sail before this can happen.
