Folios 327-328: Donald McCleod, Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Replying to Admiralty queries of 23 July. 1. He had accepted John Brown and George Corbett as able landmen substitutes for Griffith Edwards, aboard the Norge, according to their Lordships order of 5 December 1810. 2. A man has this day been offered as substitute for Owen Hughes, in agreement with their Lordships' directions of 1 June 1810 for his discharge in exchange for 2 landmen delivered to Captain Carter - he says he will keep the man until he knows whether or not the order of 5 December is now cancelled. 3. The case of Thomas Hughes has already been addressed in his letter of 20 July and in the Admiralty reply of 22nd he was informed that as the young man 'had used the sea' he could not be discharged.
