Folios 302-303: Donald M'Leod [Donald MacLeod], Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Reply to letter dated 28 March 1811 he states (1) In the case of John Evans was reported in his letter dated 14 March 1811 where he stated that John Evans was impressed by Lieutenant Thomas Evans on 23 February 1811 aged 33 born in Anglesea. He said he was Mate of the Recovery. He was taken drunk from a Public House at a quarter before ten o'clock at night. (2) Thomas Treveling was impressed by Lieutenant Thomas Evans on 25 March 1811 aged 32 born in Plymouth. He was the Mate of the Commerce and produced his Documents but Lieutenant Evans assures him that the man was taken by him in Dale Street, at a quarter before nine o'clock at night. The other information stated by Messrs Heather, Lucas & Co's application, he believes incorrect. (3) Thomas Perl entered with Lieutenant Thomas Evans on 8 March 1811 as a Boy Volunteer aged 15 born in Manchester. He said he could not get employ, nor had any one to support him, and that he was no apprentice. No other boy came with him to the Rendezvous.
