Description

Folios 241-242: Donald M'Leod [Donald MacLeod], Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Reply to letter dated 12 March 1811 respecting John Hamilton. He states (1) he was impressed by Lieutenant William Archbold on 24 February 1811 as an Ordinary Seaman born in Inniskilling. He said he was a Linen Merchant, that his goods were in Manchester and that he came to Liverpool to receive some money, he refers to a Shoemaker in Cleveland Square, Liverpool knowing him. [Mentions:-] Thomas Street Captain Galloway. (2) Reply to letter dated 15 March 1811 and states Charles McCarty entered with Lieutenant James Walker on 5 March 1811 as a Boy Volunteer aged 16 born in Manchester. He said he could get no work and that he came with the consent of his parents. (3) John Huffman was impressed by Lieutenant Thomas Evans on 16 December 1810 as an Ordinary Seaman aged 30 and born in New York. He had no protection, he came here in a British Vessel and no one claimed him as an American Seaman.

Folios 243-244: enclosure with folios 241-242. Letter dated 6 March 1811 by John Hamilton, HMS Princess, to the Admiralty. Request to be discharged.

Folio 245: enclosure with folios 241-242. Letter dated 13 March 1811 by Mary McCarty, C/o No 5 Poppelwells Court at the Bottom of Ancote Lane, Manchester, to the Admiralty. Petition of Mary McCarty Widow requesting the discharge of her Son.

Folios 246-247: enclosure with folios 241-242. Letter dated 17 March 1811 by Robert Calder, HMS Salvador del Mundo, Hamoaze, to the Admiralty. He states the American Vice Consul at this Port having applied for the discharge of John Hofiman, stating he is a subject of the United States on board HMS Prince Frederick. He directed Captain Fisher to report to him and state the case, whose report, together with the document relating he sends for their consideration.

Folios 248-249: enclosure with folios 241-242. Letter dated 11 March 1811 by John Hofman, HMS Prince Frederick, Hamoaze, to the Admiralty. Request he be discharged.
