Folios 145-146: Adam Mackenzie, HMS Armada, Basque Roads. States that in the month of April 1808 he was ordered to take on board HMS President, then under his Command, Lord Viscount Strangford, Ambassador to the Court of Brazil, Mr Byng his secretary and their Servants for which he was allowed £550. He was soon after ordered likewise, to receive Lord Viscount Forbes, Count De Enhausen and Colonel Fonseca with their retinues, and gave them a passage to the Brazils also. He requests it be laid before their Lordship that the sum granted was not competent to the expense. He suspects that his original letter from the Brazils has been lost.
