Folios 376-377: John Marshall, Regulating Officer, Poole Rendezvous. Encloses a letter from Captain R. Macdonald, HM Royal Horse Artillery stationed at Christchurch about Robert Gillett who was landlord to a Rendezvous, which he decided to change for a more convenient location. Advises that Daniel Lee was brought to him by Downs [Junior] as a Landsman substitute for his son but was claimed by Corporal John Hedge of HM Royal Horse Artillery to have the name of John Glaves. On re-examination it transpires that Downs [Junior] knew him to have been a deserter and had come to a private arrangement sharing a bounty of 20 Guineas for Volunteer Landsmen between him and John Glaves. Advises he has apprehended Downs [Junior] awaiting directions.
Folios 378-379: enclosed with folios 376-377. Letter dated 5 December 1810 by Captain R. Macdonald to Lieutenant John Marshall. Asks for further information about the case of Mr. Downes and Robert Blake, Poole, to desert his regiment and enter into the Navy and substitute for Downes' son. Questions Captain Marshall's actions.
Folios 380: enclosed with folios 376-377. Oath dated 6 December 1810 by 12 signatories before Christopher Jolleff JP. About Lieutenant John Marshall's lack of knowledge that Daniel Lee was John Glaves, a private in HM Royal Horse Artillery.
