Description

Folios 247-248: Donald M'Leod, Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Advises that Joseph Hazlehurst, born in Cheshire, was entered with Lieutenant Evans as a Landman volunteer. Advises that John Smith, born in Newry, was impressed by Lieutenant Evans, claims he has been sailing back and forth to America for 9 years and produced a protection. Advises that Thomas Murray, born in New York, was impressed by Lieutenant Raye as an Ordinary Seaman but had protection or any other document.

Folios 249-250:enclosed with folios 247-248. Letter dated 5 November 1810 by Edward Parr, Liverpool to the Admiralty. Asks for the enclosed petition from Thomas Hazlehurst, father, to be considered and receive an answer before his son is sent round to Plymouth. Asks that this is also transmitted to Captain M'Leod and Captain Galloway.

Folios 251-252: enclosed with folios 247-248. Petition dated 5 November 1810 by Thomas Hazlehurst, Miniature Painter, Liverpool, to the Admiralty. Advises that he has a wife and 10 children and his eldest son Joseph Bentley Hazlehurst has lately been an assistant in his work. Advises that his son entered as a volunteer on 29 October 1810 and asks that he is released on finding a substitute.
