Description

Folios 225-226: Donald M'Leod, Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Advises that Thomas Robson, born in Newcastle was impressed by Lieutenant Evans. He said he was Mate of the Providence but he had no bond or document to evidence such. Advises that Thomas Andrew was brought by Mr. Miller, Liverpool's Superintendent of the Police. He was sent from Manchester by the Magistrates and he totally misrepresented his case as his discharge was obtained by application from the Mayor and was in his possession on the 2nd instant he was delivered to the Rendezvous. Encloses a letter from Lieutenant Evans requesting leave.

Folios 227-228: enclosed with folios 225-226. Letter dated 8 November 1810 by Thomas Andrew, Liverpool. Advises he is on board HMS Princess and confirms he has never been at sea and asks for a discharge. Explains that when in Manchester he got into strange company, who on hearing he was on board HMS Princess claimed he had deserted. He encloses his discharge and refers to Captain Galloway's report on his character.

Folio 229: enclosed with folios 225-226. Certificate dated 14 August 1810 by Captain Galloway, HMS Princess. Certifies that Thomas Andrews served as a Supernumerary Landsman on board HMS Princess from 24 July to 14 August 1810 and was discharged.

Folios 230-231: enclosed with folios 225-226. Letter dated 3 November 1810 by John Hughes, [Milkhouse?] Yard, Redcross Street, Liverpool. Asks for the discharge of Thomas Robson who is impressed on board HMS Princess on his delivering an able substitute, to be approved by Captain M'Leod.
