Description

Folios 216-217: Donald M'Leod, Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Advises that Thomas Cairns, born in Arklow, was impressed by Lieutenant Evans and said his name was Richard and was Master of the Carysfort. He later confessed his name was Thomas and was part owner. Advises a person has since come to him offering to exchange his 18 year old son in lieu of the Father. Encloses a certificate of discharge produced by James McGraw, born in Dundalk, who was impressed by Lieutenant Evans. Reports that the difference in age and height and the Surgeon's view that he was fit for service made him conclude he was not the person for whom the certificate was granted.

Folio 218: enclosed with folios 216-217. Undated Certificate by [?]. Certifies that James McGraw served as a Supernumerary on board HMS Fisgard for 20 March to 7 April 1807 and was then discharged not being fit for service.

Folios 219-220: enclosed with folios 216-217. Letter dated 31 October 1810 by Garret Graham to the Admiralty. Advises that the Mate of his sloop of Arklow was impressed and is now on board HMS Princess. Asks that he be discharged because of his age and the man's eldest son has offered to replace him in service.
