Folio 124: Thomas Byam Martin, HMS Implacable. Admiralty note attaching a letter to Captain Martin.
Folios 125-126: enclosed with folio 124. Letter dated 23 August by Sir James Saumarez to Captain Thomas Byam Martin. Advises he has sent a copy of Captain Martin's letter about an attack by ships under his command, namely HMS Implacable, HMS Bellerophon, HMS Melpomene and HMS Prometheus upon a Russian flotilla off [Parkkala] Point. Advises that the Admiralty lament the loss of Lieutenants Hawkey and Sterling, Mr. Mountenay Midshipman and the seamen and marines. The Admiralty have also expressed their approbation of the conduct of Lieutenants Charles Allen, [Sketel?], G. Rennie, Houghton, [Urman?], and Lieutenants Cracknell, Clarke, Kendall and Carrington of the Royal Marines. Asks for the individuals to be advised of the Admiralty's approbation and for a list of the men to be promoted.
