Folios 174-175: Robert Mends, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. Responds to queries concerning various impressed persons and encloses documents. Joseph Tilley entered himself with Lieutenant Baly as a substitute for Redmond Purcell aged 22 years and born in Warrington and with John Mather, entered with Lieutenant Baly as a LM Volunteer aged 20 years and born in Warrington. They both deny being Apprentices. Felix McDermot aged 23 years and born in Ireland entered himself with Lieutenant Evans. John McGennis aged 20 years and born in Ireland entered himself with Lieutenant Evans. He wished to serve in a good frigate. The Captain also encloses the bill for the Surgical attendance for the last quarter, the Lieutenants certificate and the Weekly Return document of the men raised at the Port. The Captain states that Thomas Sloane, Mate of the Fame, a loaded ship was impressed two nights ago straggling in the Town. The Owners are extremely solicitous to have Sloane released immediately as the ship is due to sail. The Captain asks for the terms for the release.
Folio 176: enclosure with folios 174-175. Printed template dated 17 August 1808 completed by Captain Mends to the Admiralty. Application for the discharge of John Mather and Joseph Tilley Apprentice stating the Indentures were enclosed.
Folios 177-178: enclosure with folios 174-175. Letter dated 15 August 1808 by Felix McDermott, HMS Princess, Liverpool to the Admiralty. Asks for his discharge on providing a substitute.
Folio 179: enclosure with folios 174-175. Letter dated 16 August 1808 by Hugh McGuiness to the Admiralty. Asks for his discharge, he supports his aged father and family.
