Folios 170-171: Robert Mends, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. Responds to queries concerning various impressed persons and encloses documents. James Leech is not on the Captain's books. Richard Leech entered himself as an LM Volunteer, substituting himself for Evan Owens aged 20 years and born in Ireland. Thomas Williams was impressed by Lieutenant Baly aged 25 years and born in Wales. Williams claimed to be 9 years at sea and to be Mate of the Liberty Sloop of London. The Liberty had no cargo on board.
Folios 172-173: enclosure with folios 170-171. Letter dated 12th August 1808 by Mary Williams, 2 Sweeting Street, Liverpool to the Admiralty She asks for the discharge of her husband Thomas, a Labourer and employed sometimes on coasting vessels. He is currently on board HMS Princess by finding a substitute. She has no other support for herself and 4 small children.
