Folios 138-139: Robert Mends, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. Responds to enquiries concerning impressed persons. Francis Cunningham was imprest by Lieutenant Rees as an Ordinary Seaman. He was born in Ireland. Cunningham has produced a discharge letter from the Windsor Castle dated in 1808 with a bad leg, The Surgeon pronounces him healed and fit for service. Laurence Connell aged 32 years was imprest by Lieutenant Evans. He had been Master of the Phoenix of Dungarvon, born in Ireland. He was delivered up by the Owner who has taken command of the vessel himself. A substitute would appear to be a loss not a gain. Owen Williams was imprest by Lieutenant Baly as an Ordinary, aged 21years and born in Wales. He claimed to be Master of the John and William Flat which is currently in Ireland. He was taken on shore with no protection. Siveta Rixon [Herricks?] aged 23 years and is a native of Sweden. He was imprest by Lieutenant Evans, as stated in a previous letter he was taken in a Public House singing Irish songs. The Captain is forced to believe the information. Regarding the Swedish affidavit of [Ramilow and Morine?] but he comments this type of affidavit easily procured.
Folios140-141: enclosure with folios 138-139. Letter dated 3 August 1808 by Francis Cunningham, HMS Princess Liverpool to the Admiralty. He states he has been imprest, previously invalided by Admiral Passley from HMS Windsor Castle on 28th July 1800. Asks for his discharge being unfit for service and supports a sick wife and three children.
Folios 142-143: enclosure with folios 138-139. Letter dated 7th July 1800 by [Reley?] HMS Princess, River Mersey to the Admiralty. Certifies that Francis Cunningham of HMS Windsor Castle was discharged on 1st January 1800 by order of Sir Thomas Passley, Admiral of the Red, following being surveyed and found unfit for service by Captain Machem Sheriffs Griffiths. Discharged and to receive his wages. Further part of letter, dated 28th July 1800 by George Seal, Care Taker of the Sick and Wounded, Plymouth Discharged R. Seal aged 27years and physical description. Further part of letter: To the Pay Office: Francis Cunningham states he was discharged form HMS Windsor Castle and unable to provide for a wife and five children. Now he has been imprest and on board HMS Princess and asks for his discharge.
Folios 144-145: enclosure with folios 138-139. Letter dated 4 August 1808 by Eleanor Connell, Care Mr. George Johns, The Jolly Sailors, Darwin Street. Liverpool to the Admiralty. Petitions on behalf of her husband Lawrence Connell who was imprest and now aboard HMS Princess. She has five infant children and hopes an Able Seaman is to be found as a substitute.
Folios 146-147: enclosure with folios 138-139. Letter dated 4 August 1808 by William Connell to the Admiralty. Asks for the discharge of Owen Williams. Master of the Flat John and Williams of Liverpool. He attaches an affidavit concerning the issue. William Corrigall, Merchant and owner of the vessel stated details under oath and before Henry Blundell Hollinshead, Mayor of Liverpool on 4th August 1808. Owen Williams was appointed Master of the vessel on 14th December last year. Last July Owen Williams was ill and Thomas Williams engaged until the former recovered. During this time the former was impressed and detained.
Folio 148: enclosure with folios 138-139. Letter dated 13th July 1800 by Frederick Ramilow and Daniel Morine of Halinstad, Schone, Sweden to the Admiralty. Sworn under oath on the Holy Evangelists before John B Aspinall, Merchant Liverpool. Siven Herricks, Frederich Ramelow and Eric Daniel Mornbe were all born at Halinstad and are Swedish Seamen, acquainted for a long time. Herricks as impressed three weeks ago in Liverpool and is now confined on HMS Princess om the River Mersey.
