Folios 121-122: Robert Mends, Regulating Captain Liverpool. Replies to a letter from Johan Christe Mannovishe of whom he has no knowledge and enquiries concerning Michael Daniel alias David's imprest by Lieutenant Evans as an Able Seaman and Shipwright aged 32 years and apparently native of Prussia but taken from a Scottish vessel and appeared Scottish and at sea 20 years. William Marsh, entered with Lieutenant Baly as a Boy Volunteer aged 14 years, born in Liverpool and not an Apprentice. Robert Castell entered himself with Lieutenant Clarke as a L. M. Volunteer aged 9 years and native of York. He was a Clerk, but not an apprentice. The enclosures are returned.
Folio 123: enclosure with folios 121-122. Letter dated 1st August 1808 by Johan Christi Mannouseky, Liverpool to the Admiralty. He states that he has been employed in the past by the British Merchant Services and complains that he has been troubled by the Officers and Men of the Impress Service. He encloses his Protection and asks for an Admiralty Protection. Please reply to 2 Leather Lane Alley at Mr. Smiths, Old Dock Liverpool.
Folios 124-125: enclosure with folios 121-122. Letter dated 31st July1808 by Michael Daviet, HMS Princess to the Admiralty. He stated that he has been imprest in the town, has been on board more than 3 weeks. Is a native of Prussia, had shown his Protection to the Regulating Captain who said that nothing could be done but send him to Plymouth. He sent his protection to the London Council on his second day. He asks for his discharge and has copied the Protection Certificate, headed [Prurain?] Eagle, signed by C. A. Grise.
Folio 126: enclosure with folios 121-122. Indenture dated 2nd August 1808 by John Cullen, Bookmaker, 59 Paradise Street, Liverpool to the Admiralty. States that William Marsh is his lawful Apprentice has foolishly entered the Rendezvous and is now on board HMS Princess in the harbour. Asks for his discharge.
Folio 127: enclosure with folios 121-122. Printed Discharge Template dated 3rd August 1808 by Robert Jefferson, Master to the Admiralty. Completed for Robert Castell Apprentice.
