Description

Folios 117-118: Robert Mends, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. Replies to enquiries concerning the following persons and returns enclosures. Peter Johnston imprest by Lieutenant Clarke as an Ordinary, aged 24years and native of Sweden, but had no protection. James Warren who entered himself at Lieutenant Baly' Rendezvous as an L. M. Volunteer, substitute for John Powell Lethieullier aged 23 years and born in Cheshire. Asks to be paid £5:19:9 without directions from the Admiralty for the medicine and surgical treatment provided for the Gangs employed by the Lieutenants. This has been the custom since the letter dated 7th August 1807.

Folios 119-120: enclosure with folios 117-118. Letter dated 28 July 1808 by Catherine Warren, 9 Clements Street, Liverpool to the Admiralty. She petitions on behalf of her husband James Warren, Labourer, who one week ago was drunk and entered HMS Princess. She asks for his discharge so he can labour and maintain his three children and she will get two able landsmen to substitute. Reply to Captain [Colquette?].
