Folios 78-79: Robert Mends, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. In reply to the enquiry concerning William Railton. He was imprest by Lieutenant Rees as an Ordinary Seaman, aged 18 years and born at Maryport. He admitted and his indenture shows he has been at sea more than three years. He is very suitable for HM service.
Folios 80-81: enclosure with folios 78-89. Letter dated 22 July 1808 by John Nodin of Spring Garden to the Admiralty. He asks for the protection of William Railton, Apprentice.
