Folios 598-599: Robert Mends, Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Replies to the letter of 22 [August 1807] to Captain Colquitt stating that Manuel Areno was impressed by Lieutenant Keys on 19 [August 1807] as an Able Seaman aged 35, and said he was Portuguese. He produced a certificate signed by a person calling himself Clerk to Mr Simmons of Plymouth. He was not taken out of an American ship. He suspects he is an impostor but Captain Colquitt believes him to be a foreigner. Timothy Fuller was impressed on 26 June [1807] as an Ordinary aged 21 saying he was a native of America. He produced a Protection which did not fit his description. Captain Colquitt reports him as a notorious scoundrel. John Smith was impressed by Lieutenant Keys on 18 [August 1807] as an Able Seaman aged 23, born at Newcastle. Captain Colquitt does not think the service would lose by him being discharged. Asks for Thomas Kendrick and Thomas Dickerson, apprentices and Richard Reynolds and George Stanfield, apprehended on false information, to be discharged.
Folios 600-601: enclosure with folios 598-599. Letter dated 19 August 1807 from Manuel Arena [made his mark] to the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty. He was impressed out of an American ship although he is a Spaniard and his feelings won't allow him to fight against his native country.
Folios 602-603: enclosure with folios 598-599. Letter dated 26 August 1807 from William Mainwaring, 57 Mersey Street, Liverpool. Timothy Fuller who lodge with im was impressed about 8 weeks ago and remains on HMS Princess. He is in a very bad state of health and is only 17. He was never at sea apart from as a Cook. Asks for the terms on which he may be discharged.
Folios 603A-603B: enclosure with folios 598-599. Letter dated 21 August 1807 from John Smith, HMS Princess, to William Wellesley Pole, Admiralty, London. He has been impressed. Encloses his invalid ticket received in Plymouth on 19 March 1806.He is incapable of going to sea. He was a Midshipman in different ships. Asks for his discharge being unfit.
Folio 604: enclosure with folios 603A-603B. Certificate dated 16 March 1806 stating that John Smith, Ordinary, of HMS Raven, was sent there on 29 December 1805 for cure of haemoptysis and not being cured was discharged on 16 March 1806. Born in Newcastle, resident in Sunderland, aged 22. Signed by Richard Beddek, appointed to care for the sick and hurt Seamen at Plymouth,
