Folios 569-570: Robert Mends, Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Replies to the letter of 17 [August 1807] stating that Daniel McCollom was impressed by Lieutenant Baly on 25 [July 1807] as an Ordinary aged 18, native of Liverpool. He said he was a Boatman and he seemed very fit for HM service. In reply to the letter to Captain Colquitt of 14 [August 1807] states that John Jones was impressed by Lieutenant Rees on 20 [July 1807] as an Ordinary aged 36, native of Wales. He came to Liverpool in the Jamaica from the West Indies. Concerning the application made for John Corker states that he was impressed on 6 [August 1807] as an Ordinary aged 21 native of Northwick. He came to Lieutenant Keys's Rendezvous and used threatening language and was detained. He had no Protection although he was employed as a Flatman under the Trustees of the late Duke of Bridgewater. A substitute would be fair. William Wickham was impressed by Lieutenant Rees on 6 [August 1807] as an Ordinary aged 21, native of Colchester. He said he was tailor. He thinks the offer of 2 substitutes is fair. In reply to the letter of 18 [August 1807] asking him if Mr Maddock had found his proportion of substitutes for the men in question, observes that Mr Maddock has a claim for Protection for more men if he pleases to apply for them as he has already procured 4 Flatmen to serve in HM Navy.

Her husband John Corker, Captain of the Flat Enterprise belonging to the Trustees of the late Duke of Bridgewater was impressed on board HMS Prices son 6 August [1807]. He was drunk and used bad language. Captain Mends says the business lies with the Admiralty. She is willing to find a substitute. She is now pregnant and has no other support.
Folios 575-576: enclosure with folios 569-570. Letter dated 12 August 1807 from John Jones, HMS Princess, River Mersey, Liverpool, to J Barrow, Secretary, Admiralty Office, London. Offers to procure 2 able bodied Landsmen as substitutes. He has a wife and 3 children.
Folios 577-578: enclosure with folios 569-570. Petition dated 14 August 1807 from Flora McCollom, 4 Baxter Court, Liverpool, to William Wellesley Pole, Secretary, Admiralty Office, London. She is the mother of 2 sons who died at the Battle of Trafalgar. She has one younger son aged 17 who is her sole support through his work in a boat on the River Mersey.
