Description

Folios 196-197: George McKinley, HMS Lively, The Tagus. Sends a copy of a note from Lord Strangford to Captain Stevenson, which from the Admiralty letter of 25 April he finds was written to be sent as stated in his letter to The Admiralty on 11 April. The ship mentioned remains ready to sail. In his letter of 12 April he mentioned that HMS Gannet was to sail on 31 April with the homeward bound trade vessels and HMS Richmond on 2 June from Oporto, where she is now cruising.

Folios 198-199: enclosure with folios 196-197. Copy of an undated note from Lord Strangford to Captain Stevenson, informing him that the American vessel which he described last Monday is the Arozenila, and the Master is named Brewster. Detection of this vessel appears to be of great importance to the Navy, as Lord Strangford has received authoritative information that several French Officers intend to sail in her as passengers. Although Charlestown is mentioned as the destination, there is every reason to suppose that the Master intends a voyage to some parts of South America. The Arozenila will sail next Monday or Tuesday.
