Folios176-177: John Lloyd, HMS Griffon, Sheerness.
Reports that John Mitchell, acting Master, has passed the examination for a lieutenant some three years previously. He understands that applications for preferment should come from his commander he asks that his documents [not present] be laid before the First Lord. Lloyd recommends Mitchell and hope that his application will be successful.
