Folios 139-140: Frederick Langford, HMS Lark, Cape Coast Castle. He reports his arrival having parted company with HMS Hebe who has returned to England. He has learnt that a significant French squadron has been off the coast, together with several prizes. At the request of the Master of a Guinea trade ship, he will escort her to the West Indies.
Folios 141-142: enclosed with folios 139-140. Letter dated 22 February 1806 by Frederick Langford, HMS Lark. He writes to the Masters of the Guinea ships telling them that if HMS Hebe does not return to the coast, he will escort them to the West Indies.
Folios 143-144: enclosed with folios 139-140. Letter dated 22 February 1806 from the Masters of the Guinea merchant ships to Frederick Langford, HMS Lark. C. Anderson, the Chalmers, Alexander Nicholson, the Bacchus, James Bonack, the Minerva and Charles Howell, the Frederick, write to Frederick Langford saying that they cannot load their slaves before April 1 and asking for his protection from the French squadron.
