Folios 121-122: William Granville Lobb, HMS Pomone, Lisbon. He reported"by the last packet" his arrival at this place on 27 September 1805 and his intention to have sailed on 29 September 1805, that morning the Bowsprit was discovered to be badly sprung and in other respects found so defective"by the Carpenters of this Ship and HMS Amphion" to make it necessary to have a new one. It was inspected by the Officers of Portsmouth Yard on 17 July 1805 and found necessary to be Fished, not having experienced any bad weather and the ship being remarkable easy, he cannot account for the accident, except from the badness of the Stick. We sail this evening and he shall proceed off Vigo.
