Folios 96-97: William Granville Lobb, HMS Pomone, off Boulogne. Reply to letter dated 26 April 1805 and in answer state that John Wilson during the time he has belonged to HMS Pomone conducted himself to the satisfaction of all the Officers. He has never seen anything striking about him, otherwise that is customary with a quiet Man; and good Seaman; he belongs to the Fore Top. He has learnt as far as the Rule of Three and been taught Navigation as far as Twelve Sailing; he does not appear very expert in either, which he imputes to the length of time"two years" he has been out of practice.
