Description

Folios 260-261: John Wentworth Loring, HMS Bellerophon, Downs. Reports that as per his orders from Rear Admiral Sir John Thomas Duckworth KB. He sailed from Port Royal on 17 June 1804 with HMS Duquesne, HMS Virtu & HMS Abundance Store Ship. [Total of three sides with details]. Also he informs he has specie onboard to the amount of 340,000 Dollars. He encloses a copy of his orders, a Journal [not present], List of French Prisoners of War, List of Convoy [not present] and State and Condition [not present] and the Defects.

Folios 262-263: enclosure with folios 260-261. Orders dated 12 June 1804 by Rear Admiral Sir John Thomas Duckworth KB., HMS Shark, Port Royal, Jamaica, to John Loring, HMS Bellerophon. Orders to take under your command HMS Le Duquesne, HMS La Vertu, HMS Abundance - Store Ship and make a convoy signal on board HMS Bellerophon for the trade bound to Great Britain and Ireland. You are to receive on board HMS Bellerophon the French Officers and Soldiers Prisoners of War with those of the Army belonging to this Island at the request of Lieutenant General Nugent as specified and such Invalids as may be sent from the Naval Hospital for a passage to Europe. [Total of three sides].
