Description

Folios 268-269: John Larmour, HMS Clyde, little Nore. Acknowledges a letter enclosing a letter from Thomas Martin, Master, the Mercury of Hull about the assistance he gave HMS Clyde when on shore on the London Chest bank in the Gulf of Finland and he refers to a certificate he gave the Master directing him to report to the Admiralty the nature and extent of the damage done to his vessel by HMS Clyde. Advises that Lieutenant Hext, who was on board the Mercury saw several of the yarns of the cable give way and damage the vessel.
